Danny Kanell is not on the same page as NFL scouts, and some NFL Draft analysts who have fallen in love with Kentucky quarterback Will Levis as an elite prospect set to have a strong NFL career.

“I’m sorry, I just don’t understand the Will Levis hype as a top 5 pick,” Kanell said. “This is the most overhyped quarterback of the last decade. And it stems from something that really bothers me: When people fall in love with a quarterback based on how they look in shorts and a T-shirt throwing against air.”

Kanell referred to the sensational Pro Day, but struggled to find similarities with Levis against SEC defenses.

“More times than not, I saw a quarterback struggle with the basic throws, routine throws, you want to make those look easy, and you’ll get the wow throws that will come later,” Kanell said, and added that 9 of Levis’ 19 touchdowns came against MAC competition.

“Everyone wants to project Will Levis as the next Josh Allen, but I think there’s a more likelihood he’s the next Jake Locker — or best case, Mitch Trubisky,” Kanell said.
