Former Kentucky QB Gunnar Hoak has found a new home.

On the last day of the NFL Draft, Hoak announced that he was transferring to Ohio State. Hoak is originally from Dublin, Ohio, and he’s heading home to finish out his college career.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound signal caller decided to transfer from Kentucky after losing the starting job to QB Terry Wilson. He served as the backup to Wilson last season. Hoak appeared in four games, throwing for two TDs on 26 passing attempts.

“I would like to formally announce that I am excited to accept an offer to continue my football and academic careers at THE Ohio State University. Ever since I was born at OSU hospital, some aspect of my life has always involved scarlet and gray. I’ve heard my Dad’s football stories with Coach Bruce, I’ve seen my Uncle coach countless games in The ‘Shoe, and watched my cousin win a National Championship. And while I have gained so much experience during my time in Lexington, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to continue a family legacy.

I would sincerely like to thank Coach Hinshaw, Coach Gran and Coach Stoops for the chance to be a part of the Big Blue Nation and earn a degree from an institution as respected as the University of Kentucky. To my teammates and the fans, I’ll never forget the rush of coming out of the tunnel each week and being a part of taking the program to new heights. I wish Kentucky nothing but the best!

To my parents, my girlfriend and my family, thank you for always supporting me no matter the circumstances.

This weekend, I’m looking forward to walking across the stage for graduation to get my degree and then… I’m coming home! #GoBucks #ColumbusBound”

Hoak’s commitment to the Buckeyes is more about being close to home. OSU has very limited experience behind starting QB Justin Fields, and Hoak provides some depth at the position.
