Hotel room shortage causes teams at Lexington Regional to stay in Kentucky dorm rooms
Hotel rooms have been hard to come by this week for those traveling to the Lexington Regional as Kentucky is set to host Indiana, Ball State and West Virginia.
The Kentucky high school baseball and softball tournaments are set to be played along with the Railbird Festival a 2-day music event on June 3-4 featuring more than 30 acts, including stars Zach Bryan, Weezer, Cheryl Crow and Tyler Childers. Hotel room prices have jumped and availability is limited across the Lexington area.
Ben Upton of “11Point7: The College Baseball Podcast” reported that players, coaches and staff are staying on UK’s campus. The visiting teams were sent instructions about their on-campus accommodations.

12-seed Kentucky will play Ball State in the first round, while Indiana and WVU on the other side of the bracket.
This is the first time an NCAA Regional has been played at Kentucky Proud Park, but the third time in program history UK has been selected as a host. Kentucky also hosted in 2006 and 2017, and advanced to the Super Regional round in coach Nick Mingione’s first season in 2017.
