Liam Coen left his post as Kentucky’s offensive coordinator for the same position with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, only to return to Lexington the following season.

Could a return to the NFL ranks be in the cards for the 38-year-old? The Chicago Bears “plan to interview” him for their vacant OC role, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones.

The Bears are in the hunt for a new offensive coordinator following the firing of Luke Getsy after 2 seasons. Chicago ranked 20th in total offense and 27th in passing yards per game under Getsy in 2003. Despite firing Getsy, head coach Matt Eberflus will return to the team in 2024 for at least a 3rd season despite a 10-24 record.

While Justin Fields is currently the Bears’ quarterback, things could get interesting in the lead-up to the NFL Draft. Chicago holds the No. 1 overall selection, which it gained as part of its trade with the Carolina Panthers to acquire D.J. Moore.

As for Coen, he oversaw an offense that ranked 11th in the SEC in total yardage and passing yards per game and 12th in rushing yards per game. That said, he is credited with the development of Will Levis, who threw for 28 touchdowns and over 2,800 yards in 2021 after transferring from Penn State.
