Louisville receives Notice of Allegations from the NCAA, Rick Pitino facing allegation
The NCAA is once again coming after Louisville’s basketball program.
Louisville has received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA on Monday, which includes a Level I allegation (the most serious violation), a Level II allegation against former head coach Rick Pitino (now the head coach of Iona), a Level II allegation for recruiting violations for two former Louisville assistant coaches and a Level II allegation against the school for failing to monitor the basketball program.
Louisville must now be given appropriate time to respond to all allegations listed above.
The NCAA is alleging that a $100,000 offer was made to get an unnamed prospect to play at Louisville, noting that Adidas was involved in the offer.
“Based on the information contained within the following allegations, the NCAA enforcement staff believes this case should be reviewed by a hearing panel of the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions pursuant to procedures applicable to a severe breach of conduct (Level I violation).”
The complete Notice of Allegations against Louisville can be read here.
Ouch
Although, the NCAA will likely show how toothless it has become.
It already is by going after a school who fired their coach already. I mean there’s no less evidence against Bill Self at kU, Miller at Arizona or Wade at LSU. So where’s the Notice of Allegations at those programs?
From what I recall, the NCAA is slow playing this as to not overwhelm the infractions committee. LSU hadn’t even received notice from the NCAA that they are under investigation. Not sure how long this is going to drag out.
Yes, I agree that the NCAA cares only about $$$$$ now. Their
“Punishment” of an individual institution is so inconsistent. Kind like…We’ll do whatever we want to…as far as enforcing rules or maybe we will just look the other way.
But I actually think that they will levy some Major Punishment on Lousiville(this was a highly covered case in the media)…but it happened how many years ago ? And then there’s Kansas…gotta be the dirtiest College Basketball Program Ever. No threat of any punishment there.
Pay-For-Play is that program’s Mantra.
Not sure why this is under the Kentucky section. I haven’t paid a ton of attention to other teams sections, but is the SC forum also Clemson and UF for FSU now too?
Kentuck and Kansas are the leaders in paying players by FAR,going on decades now. LSU is so guilty it isn’t funny;Louisville is being made the example, but Calimari and Self make the other schools bagmen look like amateurs.
Did a member of the UK athletic department steal your girlfriend in college or something? You sure do whine a lot about the Cats. And you trot out the same tired, unproven allegations about Calipari. I’m not his biggest fan, I think there are much better coaches out there I’d love to see at UK, but you’ve got nothing you can prove on him.
He does this to every team in here. Look at his post he says one thing. Always about athletes being paid.
