Mark Stoops issues statement on Chris Oats' hospitalization; asks for thoughts and prayers
It was reported on Friday that Kentucky LB Chris Oats was in the hospital dealing with a serious medical issue.
It was reportedly not related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and on Saturday afternoon, coach Mark Stoops confirmed that it wasn’t COVID-19.
As you can see below, he took to Twitter to offer a statement requesting privacy for the family and asking Kentucky fans for thoughts and prayers:
He’s in the hospital due to a medical issue we can confirm isn’t related to COVID 19. He’s expected to move to a physical rehabilitation center in the near future, but beyond that his family has requested that their privacy be respected during this time.

Hopefully, Oats is able to move to a rehabilitation center soon, as Stoops noted in his tweet. We’ll update his progress as more information becomes available.
Oats appeared in 11 games for Kentucky last season. He recorded 46 tackles (2.5 for a loss).
