SEC baseball is scheduled to get underway in the coming week, but one conference team will be waiting to take the field.
Kentucky announced Sunday that the Wildcats’ opening series against North Carolina has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols. UK did have some good news. The home-opener against Miami University is still on for Feb. 23 as of right now.
SEC coaches voted the Wildcats to finish seventh in the SEC East in the preseason poll.
Kentucky went 26-29 overall and 7-23 in conference play in 2019, the last full college baseball season. At the time of last year’s shutdown, the Wildcats had an 11-6 mark in out-of-conference play.
