Somto Cyril can’t wait to start his basketball career at Kentucky.

Cyril committed to the Wildcats Wednesday as a 4-star center out of Atlanta (Ga.) Overtime Elite. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 9 center and No. 5 Georgia prospect in the 2024 class.

Kentucky was one of the first school he started watching when he first started playing basketball. It was a surreal moment for him.

“To be here today, about to be part of one of the biggest programs in the country, it feels so surreal,” said Cyril. “Because I know being back home watching basketball stuff on YouTube, this school right here was the first one I watched when I started playing basketball and now, I’m about to become of their players. It’s a feeling I can’t really explain.”

Cyril further noted how he put in the hard work to get to this moment. He had to pause after getting emotional just thinking about it. Cyril then signed his letter of intent to a round of applause from the crowd.

“I’m just grateful for this moment. I know I’m up for this,” said Cyril. “It wasn’t given to me for free. I earned it. It’s close to home.”

Cyril’s journey with Kentucky basketball has just begun.
