Tahveon Nicholson snags pick-6 to put Louisville on the board against Washington
Tahveon Nicholson got Louisville off and running, literally, in Tuesday afternoon’s Sun Bowl against Washington in El Paso.
The senior defensive back cut in front of a Demond Williams Jr. pass, intercepted it in stride and ran 21 yards untouched to give the Cardinals a 7-0 lead just 2:45 into the bowl game that’s an annual New Year’s Eve fixture.
Williams would get his though, throwing touchdown passes later in the first quarter and in the second quarter to help pull the Huskies even at 14-14.
But Nicholson certainly got the Louisville crowd riled up early in west Texas, and the Cardinals grabbed the lead back at 21-14 on a Harrison Bailey touchdown pass with 4:34 left in the first half. It’s currently a 21-21 game.
Nicholson had a productive regular season in the secondary for Louisville in 2024, collecting 30 tackles, 21 of them solo. He added an interception, too, just like the one he produced in the opening moments of the bowl game on national TV.
Nicholson had 2 solo tackles in addition to his highlight-reel pick-6, as of late in the second quarter of Tuesday’s game.
The Sun Bowl is airing right now on CBS in its traditional New Year’s Eve afternoon slot.
