LSU’s defense is one unit across the SEC that has quite a bit of ground to make up from last season. But if you ask the Tigers, like pass rusher Ali Gaye, they’re well on their way.

“It’s a great time in camp for us to start building our chemistry. … The defense improving and it’s definitely going to better from last year’s defense,” Gaye said. “I feel like having spring and camp and all just being together, I feel like we’re going to be a lot more improved than last year.”

He said there’s no finish line in terms of trying to get better after a season in which he made two sacks, and had 9.5 tackles for a loss with 32 total tackles. He also had an interception and a forced fumble. Gaye said he’s improved watching film in the offseason.

About the defensive line, Gaye said to have high expectations this season with several returning starters.

“There’s a lot of weapons on this defensive line,” he said. “If you stop one man, another man coming to eat. If you stop B.J., Dre’s coming, if you stop Dre, I’m coming. There’s no stopping us. One of us is making a play. You can try to stop us, but one of us is coming to make a play, and there’s no like stopping us.”
