Brian Kelly feels comfortable heading into his first season as LSU’s head coach.

While speaking at the 2022 SEC Media Days, Kelly discussed how he is feeling about his future at LSU. Kelly became LSU’s head coach in November 2021 and he already embraced his new job. Kelly mentioned his familiarity with the culture in Louisiana and how much he appreciates it:

“I think fit is about the ability to run a program at the highest level. I’ve done it for 32 years. I’ve had success at Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Central Michigan, wherever I’ve been. Then developing players, player development. Those are the most important things. And I don’t think that needs to be geographical, in a sense. I’ve gotten to love where I’m at in Baton Rouge. I love the people. They love football. They love family and they love food. And that fits me really well. I guess I should have been in the South all along.”

Being successful on the football field is the most important aspect to a job for any coach, but Kelly believes that his love for Baton Rouge will help his performance as a coach. Kelly sees himself as a nice fit in the SEC from a football and geographical point of view.

In 18 seasons as a head coach, Kelly only had two losing seasons and he hopes to continue winning at LSU.
