Brian Kelly has yet to hire a wide receivers coach to his LSU staff. Kelly is reportedly looking to fill that spot by poaching a Georgia assistant.

John Brice of FootballScoop reports, per multiple sources, that Kelly is targeting Georgia assistant Cortez Hankton.

Hankton, who turns 41 next week, has been Georgia’s wide receivers coach since 2018. He joined Kirby Smart’s staff after 3 seasons coaching wideouts on Derek Mason’s Vanderbilt staff.

A New Orleans native, Hankton was a standout wide receiver at Texas Southern from 1998-2002. He played in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2003-08. After that, Hankton played 2 seasons in the UFL before getting into coaching. Hankton’s first coaching gig was at Dartmouth, where he coached receivers for 3 seasons (2012-14).
