LSU currently has the SEC’s No. 1 recruiting class for the 2022 recruiting cycle but the Tigers class took a hit on Thursday as Texas native Bryan Allen Jr. backed off his pledge to Ed Orgeron’s program.

The Aledo, Texas native announced his decision with the following statement:

“In life, we sometimes have to make hard decisions, this is one for me. I would like to thank the coaching staff at LSU for all the love they’ve shown my family and I. With that being said, I will be decommitting from LSU and opening up my recruitment.”

The 6-foot, 180-pound Texan is rated as the No. 5 safety prospect and a top 75 overall recruit in the country for the 2022 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Allen originally committed to LSU back in April of 2020.

Since that time, Allen has picked up scholarship offers from Ohio State, Auburn, Florida State and Georgia Tech.

Despite losing the commitment of Allen, LSU still has seven total commitments for the 2022 recruiting cycle, which currently leads the SEC.
