Bryce Underwood, the nation’s No. 1 prospect and a 5-star quarterback in the class of 2025, is reportedly flipping his commitment away from Brian Kelly’s LSU program.

Long viewed as the best player available this cycle, Underwood is the top player out of Michigan via Belleville High School. He committed to LSU in January, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Underwood informed the Wolverines on Thursday that he will flip to Sherrone Moore’s program.

With the move, Underwood immediately becomes the highest-ranked prospect in UM history. It’s a massive win for Moore, but it throws Kelly into even bigger questions after a massively disappointing season for LSU.

While the situation in Baton Rouge will be something to monitor, the angle for Michigan is massive. Moore’s team has struggled in his first full season as the head coach in Ann Arbor, but the struggles were heavily related to the offensive side of the ball.

Michigan rotated 3 separated starting quarterbacks this season, and each one was severely limited or struggled in key moments. As a result, the Wolverines are 118th nationally while averaging 20.4 points per game and must win one of the final two games to reach a bowl game.

Underwood presents a marquee prospect to help engineer an offensive turnaround for UM, and it’s likely the Wolverines had to offer up a massive NIL package to make the move happen. We’ll see how it all works out this time next year and in the seasons to come.
