5-star QB Caleb Williams, nation's No. 1 dual-threat QB prospect, announces his finalists
Joe Burrow just had perhaps the most impressive season ever seen from a college quarterback and if Myles Brennan can do something similar in Baton Rouge this fall for LSU, the Tigers have got to love their chances to land the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat quarterback prospect.
You don’t have to take our word for it, though, as five-star prospect Caleb Williams just announced his list of three finalists and LSU has made the cut. In addition to the Tigers, Williams announced Oklahoma and Maryland have also made his final list.
The Gonzaga High School standout from Washington, D.C., is rated as the nation’s No. 5 overall prospect and the No. 1 prospect from D.C. by 247Sports Composite Rankings.
One look at his junior season highlight reel with Gonzaga High School and you will see a player that evokes memories of Johnny Manziel during his time in College Station.
Can you imagine LSU landing a quarterback with this level of mobility in addition to his skills as a passer? That may be the only way to top what LSU did on the field last season as LSU’s coaching staff has already produced one Heisman Trophy winner at the quarterback position and hopes to have the opportunity to produce another if Williams signs on to play his college football in Baton Rouge.
Surprised Tennessee didn’t make the cut with the way they’ve been landing players lol
No, they already landed the second coming of the Messiah in Harrison Bailey, apparently. This has been a very butthurt week for me.
If Tennessee wants him Tennessee will get him!!! Just keep paying attention to what’s happing around your and in Knoxville. The Orange Crush is coming soon near you!!!!
He’d probably do well in any system, but honestly he’d probably be wasted at a school like UT. They need a big nasty RB and a strong blocking FB . Someone like Harrison Bailey or that USC transfer (JT Daniels) would be more their speed. Oklahoma is a good fit for him or go to somewhere like UCLA and get Chip Kelly’s wagon rolling.
Everyone is paying attention…thats the problem. NCAA is coming soon near you!!! Something smells fishy in Knoxville and its not the Tn river.
This not a slam on LSU but I would think OU would lead race due the last 3 years compared to 1 year. Add in the fact that Riley is still there and Brady isn’t.
I don’t see it as a slam against LSU, but then again I see LSU having more weapons and a defense to give a better chance at a national championship than OU. As long as the offensive scheme is here to stay/evolve for the better, I think we have the right landing spot.
Not a slam, and here’s my (obviously biased) opinion. There’s not a big difference between the 2 in terms of record etc. Factoring in SEC vs (coughweakcough) Big 12, and being successful with LSU’s schedule vs being successful with OU’s schedule, makes up for the slight difference in record. Add in the waxing LSU put on OK in the Peach Bowl last year, especially Burrows 1st half performance. And last but not least there’s the difference in culture (=fun) between S. Louisiana and Norman – and I would think it’s a no-brainer. But like I said I’m biased.
Maryland ? Oh he’s he’s from Washington D.C.
I’m more impressed with the arm than the legs. Some of those throws shows elite arm talent. LSU just had a 4* Top 10 ranked QB commit today. Wonder how that will affect this kids decision. Still, would be great to get him.
You never know how they will turn out. The 4* may end up being better than the 5*.
Hope we get him, but at least we are getting the attention of top flight QBs. A few years ago someone like Williams wouldn’t have given LSU a parting glance.
He would be wasting his talent at LSU or OU (Maryland? seriously?)! He should come on down to SC and there he could be OUTSTANDINGLY EXCEPTIONAL rather than simply Outstanding on those loaded teams! His running ability was as impressive as his throws – he will definitely make any team a LOT better!
You mean he’ll end up flopping like manziel?? Because Johnny had one truly overrated season. Reslly really overrated.
Muschamp would ruin him at SC…don’t know if LSU will regress after Brady is gone…Brennan is not the qb Burrow was or he would have started.
All good points 35. Your logic on Brennan/Burrow is sound, although that’s not always the case. Burrow/Ohio St comes to mind.
This kid should look in the mirror before enrolling at LSU. If he still doesn’t get he should Google search Cam Newton, Justin Fields, Jordan Jefferson, Brandon Harris, Anthony Jennings, Joey Gatewood, and Keytaon Thompson. Perhaps he can apply the principles of deduction and arrive at a logical decision.
Jealousy is the greatest form of flattery, and you are eaten up with it. Too funny.
If you were C. Williams, why would you go to Oklahoma? Sure, they have had 2 Heisman winners and a runner-up but they have yet to win a CFB Playoff game! Does he really think he can overcome a defense giving up 7 TD’s in the 1st half against the National Champs!?! Go to the SEC where teams, actually, play defense and prepare yourself for the NFL.
