Dan Patrick revealed information on Wednesday that he gathered from a source that combines Arch Manning’s recruiting, with LSU coach Ed Orgeron’s future.

“LSU has to hire someone who can get into the Arch Manning sweepstakes and that person is not Ed Orgeron,” Patrick said on his syndicated radio show that is also streamed on Peacock.

Patrick said his source believes that LSU would fire Orgeron to hire someone who can recruit Manning, a New Orleans native who is the No. 1 quarterback and overall player in the class of 2023, according to the 247Sports Composite.

“There’s a ton of issues at LSU off the field, they aren’t playing well,” Patrick said. “Offensive coaches that are hired aren’t getting it done.”

While Manning’s visit list this fall includes Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss and Clemson, he has already been to Athens and Tuscaloosa.

Patrick’s source said that Manning’s frontrunners are Alabama and Texas. Clemson is the third team considered another frontrunner.

“My source is not saying they’re going to fire Ed O and bring in Urban Meyer, but LSU’s got to get back on to the landscape here,” Patrick said. “Because they’ve fallen off, and that’s a pretty far fall for them.”
