If you were to ask former Oklahoma standout receiver CeeDee Lamb, he’d probably tell you that Derek Stingley Jr. is ready for the NFL now.

Unfortunately for Stingley, he won’t be eligible to make the jump to the pros until the 2022 NFL Draft. If he continues to progress at the rate he did last fall following his outstanding college debut, Stingley will likely be the No. 1 overall selection by the time the 2022 NFL Draft arrives two years from now.

LSU fans likely won’t find this hard to believe but those that aren’t familiar with the Tigers outstanding cornerback may be surprised to hear Stingley is being mentioned at the 2020 NFL Combine by a player that faced him last season.

When asked which cornerback was the best he’d seen in college football, Lamb pointed toward LSU’s freshman.

“I know he’s young, but that guy knows football. His technique is unbelievable,” Lamb said of Stingley according to Jon Ledyard of the Pewter Report.

Keep in mind Lamb was rarely kept in check during his college career at Oklahoma.

In his three seasons in Norman, Lamb caught 173 passes for 3,292 yards and 32 touchdowns. While he may have caught four passes for 119 yards against LSU in Oklahoma’s 63-28 loss in the Peach Bowl, the Sooner receiver had to work for everything he got in the game thanks to Stingley.
