LSU already projected to have a much-improved offensive line heading into 2019 and if Ed Orgeron gets his way, the Tigers could be welcoming back an additional lineman that many believed had no future in Baton Rouge.

Heading into the 2018 season, sophomore Ed Ingram appeared to have cemented his place in LSU’s lineup for years to come after starting the final 12 games at right guard for the Tigers in 2017 and repping over 700 snaps for the team as a true freshman. However, Ingram’s future with the program was dramatically changed heading into last season’s fall camp as Ingram was suspended after being charged with sexual assault against a minor in Texas.

Ingram’s lawyer sent out a statement issuing his client’s innocence following LSU’s indefinite suspension of the Texas native. LSU just started spring football in Baton Rouge and with Ingram’s name appearing on the 2019 roster, Orgeron was asked about the lineman.

“That’s for those guys to handle, that’s an administration deal but you know what? I hope it does get resolved. I think Ed is a great young man,” Orgeron said regarding Ingram. “As soon as it gets resolved, I would like to have him on the team — if it does get resolved.”

At the moment, the door is at least cracked open for Ingram’s potential return to LSU provided he gets his legal issues behind him. While there’s no telling what playing shape the lineman may be in at this point, you can never have enough talented linemen in the SEC. If Ingram is innocent of the charges, here’s to hoping he gets a chance at redemption in Baton Rouge.
