Ed Orgeron didn’t have any more information than your average college football fan on Monday afternoon when he was asked about CB Eli Ricks’ reported departure from LSU to the transfer portal.

“I haven’t talked to Eli. I haven’t talked to his mom,” Orgeron said. “I heard the same reports. I guess they’re true. I don’t know if they are or not.”

Ricks, a former 5-star cornerback who is out for the season because of shoulder surgery, is looking for a change of scenery, according to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman.

Ricks played in all 6 of LSU’s games this season, before he was sidelined by injury. He made one interception to go with one pass breakup. He picked off 4 passes last season and in the mix to be an early-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Ricks was a 5-star recruit out of Rancho Cucamonga, California via IMG Academy, and was rated the No. 2 cornerback in the class of 2020, and No. 14 player overall by the 247Sports Composite.
