LSU is reportedly expected to lose some major depth off its defense with a report that former 5-star CB Eli Ricks is entering the transfer portal.

Ricks has battled a shoulder injury this season, but Sam Spiegelman of Rivals reported that the portal is in his future. Ricks was injured and sidelined for the season in October. He accounted for 11 tackles, a pass breakup and an interception. Ricks was a 5-star recruit out of Rancho Cucamonga, California via IMG Academy, and was rated the No. 2 cornerback in the class of 2020, and No. 14 player overall by the 247Sports Composite.

Ricks played in all 6 of LSU’s games this season, before he was sidelined by injury. He made one interception to go with one pass breakup. He picked off 4 passes last season and in the mix to be an early-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Coach Ed Orgeron previously said that Ricks and his family made the decision for Ricks to undergo season-ending surgery.
