LSU lost to Mississippi State at home in its 2020 season opener. Now, the Tigers are going on the road looking for revenge this week.

With LSU set to begin SEC play in a hostile environment, it faces a challenge in going up against Mississippi State. But Tigers coach Ed Orgeron recently said in an interview with LSU reporter Emily Villere Dixon that his team is going to be ready to go.

“I think that the intensity level has risen,” Orgeron said. “I think we still have some work to do. We’re going to work hard [Friday], we’re going to work hard at the hotel, work hard Saturday morning. It’s going to be a challenging game. But I feel our team is very well prepared, our coaches have done a tremendous job this week.”

LSU had won 18 of its previous 20 meetings with Mississippi State before losing last year. So the Tigers have had a ton of recent success against the Bulldogs.

Both teams enter this year’s matchup at 2-1. LSU lost at UCLA to begin the year, but it has bounced back with wins over McNeese and Central Michigan. Meanwhile, Mississippi State opened with wins over Louisiana Tech and NC State before losing at Memphis last week.

The Bulldogs have won both their home games, though, and they’ll have a raucous crowd on their side for this matchup against the Tigers.

LSU and Mississippi State are set to kick off on Saturday at noon ET on ESPN.
