Ed Orgeron outlines which LSU starting jobs are still open
After two scrimmages, Ed Orgeron said he believes he has a grasp for the starting positions across the roster. But several are still open.
Left guard and several on defense come immediately to mind.
“Obviously, there’s going to be some rotating on defense,” Orgeron said, according to press conference video from Jacques Doucet. “Grant Delpit is a starter for us, but hasn’t scrimmaged. We’ve got to look at who’s going to be the third safety. We got to look at who’s going to be the starting linebacker.”
That battle is between Jacob Phillips, Patrick Green and Damone Clark, but Orgeron said the coaching staff doesn’t have to make a decision right now.
“Thaddeus Moss is making a big push to be considered as a starter,” Orgeron said of the tight end. “I want to see the two young running backs, to see if they’re ready to play, so we can put them in a live action, and I think they can perform well.”
