LSU coach Ed Orgeron was the first coach to speak during the SEC’s weekly media teleconference Wednesday. During the call, the Tigers coach was asked to discuss his team’s matchup with BYU, his reaction to the game being moved from Houston to New Orleans and he gave an update on the status of star running back Derrius Guice.
The LSU-BYU game kicks off Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN in New Orleans.
Here are the highlights from Coach O’s call:
- First of all, thoughts and prayers to those affected by Hurricane in Houston
- Awful glad we get to play in New Orleans, great venue of the Superdome
- As camp is nearing an end, we are ready to play someone else
- Every week we will handle internal discipline, we will not announce that before the game, “Everything will be in-house.”
- on the first game being in New Orleans: “I’m so excited for everybody. It’s going to be a wonderful night. As a kid, I dreamed about bringing a team into the Superdome.”
- Derrius Guice’s status: “We have not made a final decision, but it looks like he will play. He’s not 100% but I expect him to play.”
- Hearts go out to the victims, but I will tell you this, (the move to New Orleans) could not have turned out better for us
