Ed Orgeron revealed that LSU has confirmed the worst fears for star pass rusher Andre Anthony as he’s out for the season after he suffered a knee injury on Saturday against Central Michigan.

Orgeron reported at his Monday press conference that the sixth-year senior, who had been arguably the best defensive lineman for the Tigers this season, “will be with us this year, and whatever the next step is from there, we will find out.” Anthony has 3.5 sacks this season.

“What an outstanding player,” Orgeron said. “We absolutely love him. It’s sad news. It really is.”

Anthony’s main highlight from Saturday was he had a scoop-and-score to put LSU up 14-0 over Central Michigan in the first quarter.

Anthony wrote a message on Twitter late Sunday night about the injury and his outlook.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out, I really appreciate all the love and support. Please keep me in your prayers. It’s in Gods hands, praying and hoping for the best Philippians 4:13 Romans 8:28.”
