Ed Orgeron was dishing out NFL comparisons for some of his top LSU players on Thursday.

First, Orgeron talked about quarterback Joe Burrow during the Tigers’ head coach’s press conference. He compared Burrow to Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, and gave reasons for that comparison.

“I think it’s been a deciding factor in some games, him being able to escape pressure and make some plays,” Orgeron told the media.

Burrow is the current favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this season, as he’s been LSU’s offensive leader during its 10-0 start. Burrow has passed for 3,687 yards and 38 touchdowns.

Orgeron also had a comparison for running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who has been a dynamic player for the Tigers this season. Orgeron compared the junior back to Maurice Jones-Drew who, like Edwards-Helaire, was a shorter running back. Edwards-Helaire is 5-foot-8, while Jones-Drew is 5-7.

Edwards-Helaire has rushed for 958 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, also hauling in 32 passes for 224 yards and a score.

Burrow and Edwards-Helaire are having big seasons, and that should continue in LSU’s home game against Arkansas on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
