Fans upset Auburn defender wasn’t called for targeting after hard hit on Joe Burrow
By Andrew Olson
Published:
Early in the second quarter, LSU QB Joe Burrow used his legs to pick up a Tigers first down. On the play, Burrow took a hard hit from Auburn DB Javaris Davis.
Some fans were upset that Davis did not get called for targeting for his hit on Burrow. On the CBS broadcast, Gary Danielson wondered if it was targeting. CBS’ in-house rules expert thought it was a fine no call, saying Burrow was not defenseless and it looked like the AU defender did not lead with the crown of his helmet.
Still, many viewers were unhappy with the non-call and no review from the booth:

LSU gets away with a hold but Auburn got away with a targeting that could’ve injured Burrow and should have had a player ejected. So let’s not start with the refs please.

Really thought that could of been targeting too. Surprised they didn’t review it. Dude just bounced up though and kept throwing darts. https://t.co/fMM2wOvXbN
