New York Jets safety Jamal Adams is off to a strong start for his career.

The former LSU star has notched nine total tackles and a pass breakup in the first two games of his NFL career. Pro Football Focus has noticed Adams’ play and has given him the highest grade of any rookie safety in the NFL this season.

Adams has been given a 79.8 grade by PFF for his performance in the first two games of his career. The Colts Malik Hooker (78.0) and Saints Marcus Williams (76.7) were graded just behind Adams.

PFF tweeted out a graphic with the grades for each player:

It should be noted that Hooker is the only player in the trio with an interception while Williams leads the group in tackles (10). Still, PFF attempts to look at the effectiveness of each player on every play, and Adams looks like he should have an impact for the Jets defense moving forward.

Adams appeared in 36 games over three seasons with LSU. He finished his Tigers career with 209 tackles, 14 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and five interceptions.
