Former LSU defensive back John Battle is back in the NFL. The Pittsburgh Steelers announced they signed Battle to their practice squad on Friday.

The Steelers are familiar with Battle, previously signing to a reserve/futures contract in January. Battle was let go as part of final roster cuts but is back in Pittsburgh after the Arizona Cardinals signed safety Curtis Riley off of the Steeler’s practice squad.

After completing his LSU career in 2018, Battle went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. In his college career, Battle was a three-year starter in the secondary for the Tigers. The Hallandale (Florida) product racked up 144 total tackles and 5ive interceptions during his time in Baton Rouge, playing in 47 games, including 48 starts.
