Urban Meyer is sure to be watching the LSU vs. Texas game on Saturday night. In addition to it being a top-10 showdown in primetime, the game features one of Meyer’s former play-callers, Texas head coach Tom Herman, against one of his former quarterbacks, LSU QB Joe Burrow. Meyer, now a FOX analyst, said he’s going with his old signal-caller.

“I had a great talk with my former quarterback,” Meyer said on the FOX pregame show, per 247Sports. “There’s nothing quite like when your quarterback feels so good about your game plan. A year ago, it was pretty good. He feels this team is ready to go. He loves the game plan. He loves the new (passing game) coordinator. Here’s the thing you have to look at. When you watch the Texas defensive line, can they get pressure on the quarterback? If not, he’ll sit back and complete a lot of balls today. They have to pressure him. If they can’t pressure him with the front four, they have to use their linebackers.”

“This is Joe Burrow’s strength,” Meyer added. “His father was a defensive coordinator. He’s a coach’s kid, student of the game. He works as hard as any quarterback I’ve ever been around. I anticipate he’ll be able to identify where the pressures are coming from. I like LSU. I like Joe Burrow to have a big day today.”

The Burrow-Herman Ohio State connection is one of the many big storylines being talked about ahead of Saturday’s SEC vs. Big 12 clash in Austin.
