Grant Delpit explains role LSU safeties will have in stopping Georgia State's triple-option offense
The LSU Tigers have an interesting Week 1 opponent on Saturday, as they’ll face off against a Georgia State team that runs a triple-option offense.
Many teams don’t like facing triple-option offenses, since it’s such a unique system that not many teams run anymore.
On Monday, LSU S Grant Delpit was asked about the challenge of facing Georgia State. He said that, unlike linebackers and defensive linemen, who have to focus on gap assignments above all else, safeties have to be all over the place.
With defending the triple option, front seven defenders often talk about being gap sound and the challenge of being bored.
Grant Delpit said it's different for safeties:
“It’s a lot of running for safeties this week. I’ll just say that. We’ll be tired, not bored.” #LSU

LSU has a secondary that is well suited for this game, though, as the Tigers are deep and loaded with stars in the defensive backfield.
We’ll see soon how Delpit and exciting freshman Derek Stingley Jr. perform.
