Joe Burrow put up absurd statistics (5,671 passing yards with a 60-6 touchdown to interception ratio) last season due to a combination of factors.

Burrow is by no means short of talent himself but he was surrounded by elite skill players such as Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Thaddeus Moss and Terrace Marshall Jr. last fall in Baton Rouge.

Combine all that with passing concepts implemented by the nation’s top assistant coach, Joe Brady, and LSU was really cooking on offense last season.

Of all the plays LSU had at its disposal last fall, which one was Burrow’s favorite? He answered that question during a recent appearance on ESPN Baton Rouge 104.5 FM program “Off The Bench” on Tuesday.

“We call it Giant and it’s a post from Ja’Marr at the X, over route from Justin at the F, and then a deep dig from Terrace at the Z with Clyde in the flat to the field and Thaddeus in the flat to the boundary,” Burrow shared. “We had five guys that are going to be playing in the NFL for a long time.”

When asked to explain the play in more detail, Burrow quickly shared how he viewed the play from the field.

“I’m looking for that, eyeing the free safety if he takes the post,” Burrow continued. “If he doesn’t take the post, I’m going over. Then if the nickel runs with the over, that opens up the window for the dig.

“If the Mike [linebacker] gets under the dig, then and nobody’s on the back and the flat of the field, or if the Will [linebacker] tracks back and gets into the window for the dig, and I got Thaddeus in a flat to the boundary. So it just gives me a bunch of different options, and they can’t cover it all. No matter what they do, or what coverage they have.”

The fact that Burrow and quickly answer the question and break it down live on command while on the radio has to bring smiles to the faces of the coaches in Cincinnati right now.
