LOOK: After LSU S Grant Delpit was compared to Jamal Adams, Adams weighed in
LSU S Grant Delpit is off to a hot start as a sophomore this year. Through five games, he has 27 tackles (6.5 for a loss), three sacks, two interceptions and three passes defended.
Those are impressive numbers, and Delpit’s teammates are already comparing him to former LSU star S Jamal Adams, who was a top-10 pick by the New York Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft.
As you can see below, Adams caught wind of those comparisons and said that, while Delpit has been great, he needs to do it for longer to be mentioned alongside Adams:
I respect and appreciate the comparison but let's let #9 make his own name. Now… on to this comment below, we pushing the envelope a little too far! He has the potential to become a Top 10 pick for sure but until then… the PREZ is on top. Hahah, I'm a Rare breed!! LUV https://t.co/LZoit0IrTx

That confidence is what made (and continues to make) Adams so great, and Delpit could certainly follow in Adams’ footsteps.
For now, though, let’s just enjoy watching Delpit do his thing and make a name for himself, like Adams said.
