Mike VII, LSU’s mascot, has made Friday night snacks of upcoming opponents a tradition this season.

This week, the Ole Miss Rebels were on the menu, but the cursive penmanship reportedly didn’t last long.

This is the first season for Mike, but an age-old tradition at LSU. Mike was found by LSU’s Attending Veterinarian, David Baker, DVM, Ph.D., at a rescue facility after he previously lived in a sanctuary in Okeechobee, Fla. The male rescue tiger who has Siberian and Bengal characteristics, is 11 months old.

Mike VI passed in October 2016 after battling cancer.

As for the football game, it’s a reunion for LSU coach Ed Orgeron, who returns to play an Ole Miss program in Oxford that he led from 2005-07 and finished with a 10-25 record, including a 3-21 mark in the SEC. Now he leads No. 24 LSU (5-2, 2-1 SEC) to its third straight win coming off wins over Auburn and Florida, as Ole Miss looks to build on a lopsided win over Vanderbilt. The Rebels are 3-3 and 1-2 in the SEC.
