Former LSU star Tremont Waters is playing with a heavy heart in the NBA Summer League on Saturday.

On Friday, his father, Edward Waters Jr., was found dead of an apparent suicide in a hotel room in Connecticut.

However, Waters opted to play on Saturday, surrounded by friends and family. And, as you can see below, he had a special message honoring his father on his shoes:

It’s a small gesture, but one that probably means a lot to Waters and the family members who watched him play in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Waters finished with 16 points in 32 minutes in Boston’s 94-88 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
