The LSU Tigers announced Friday night that senior TE Foster Moreau will wear the No. 18 uniform for 2018.

According to LSU, the No. 18 jersey quickly became synonymous with success and selflessness — in football and life, and it has become a tradition since former QB Matt Mauck started it following his final season with the Tigers. Led by Mauck, LSU beat Ohio State in the BCS National Championship Game in 2003.

The jersey is awarded annually to the player on the LSU team that displays a selfless attitude while representing the Tigers in a first-class manner both on and off the field. The player is also considered a team leader.

Christian LaCouture and JD Moore both wore No. 18 last season, the first time two players wore the number in the same season.

Moreau, from New Orleans, La., is a leader on and off the field for the Tigers, and he’s played in 36 games during his career, starting all 13 in 2017. He’s caught 30 passes for 357 yards and four TDs during his career.

Moreau will look to increase that production as the passing game hopefully improves in 2018.
