A top-10 matchup between SEC West rivals delivered big ratings for CBS.
CBS Sports’ coverage of the “SEC ON CBS” showcase game (LSU vs. Auburn) on Oct. 26 scored with an average of 7.175 million viewers and was Saturday’s most-watched college football game. CBS saw a 13 percent increase in viewership for LSU vs. Auburn versus last year’s comparable game (6.372 million, Georgia vs. Florida, Oct. 27, 2018).
According to CBS, these were the top five markets for this year’s Tiger Bowl:
- Birmingham – 40.3/57
- New Orleans – 27.7/47
- Columbus, OH – 13.0/24
- Atlanta – 12.4/27
- Jacksonville – 11.3/23
Through the first nine weeks of the college football season, the “SEC ON CBS” season-to-date viewership is the Network’s best since 2016, and is up +8% with 5.831 million viewers compared to last year’s 5.421 million (includes November primetime game). CBS should continue to see big ratings from SEC rivalries with Florida-Georgia and Alabama-LSU, both top-10 rivalry showdowns, coming up on the network in the next two weeks.
