Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher has repeatedly said he’s happy in Tallahassee and isn’t considering the LSU job to which he has been so frequently connected.

The higher-ups at LSU seem to disagree.

Ross Dellenger, who covers LSU football for The Advocate, said Monday on The Paul Finebaum Show that university officials believe Fisher is “very interested” in filling the coaching vacancy in Baton Rouge.

Dellenger reported Sunday that LSU has fired up an aggressive coaching search, one that could reach a conclusion within the week. Fisher, the Tigers’ offensive coordinator from 2000-2006, is reportedly the leader in a pool of candidates that includes interim coach Ed Orgeron.

The school reportedly gauged Fisher’s interest last November when Les Miles nearly lost his job due to a three-game losing streak. He’s a natural fit this time around too, being an offensive-minded coach that has experienced immense success at another Power 5 program.
