On Friday, LSU got a big defensive boost for its 2022 recruiting class.

JaDarian Rhym, a 4-star cornerback from Valdosta (Ga.) High School, announced that he has committed to the Tigers. He picked LSU over several other SEC schools, as he also held offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Rhym is the No. 17 cornerback and No. 145 overall recruit in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

While schools are still pursuing some 2021 recruits, it’s not too early for them to start building their 2022 classes. LSU already has eight 2022 commits, six of whom are 4-star recruits, which gives it an early advantage over its conference rivals. The Tigers’ 2022 class is currently ranked No. 1 in the SEC and No. 2 in the nation, per 247Sports Composite. Of course, there is a lot of time left in that recruiting cycle.

Rhym, who is listed at 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, is the first cornerback in LSU’s 2022 class. The Tigers have landed commitments from three defensive backs, all of whom are 4-star recruits (which also includes safeties Bryce Anderson and Bryan Allen Jr.).
