LSU picked up commitment No. 16 for its 2021 recruiting class on Sunday as a 4-star linebacker out of Maryland announced his verbal pledge to the Tigers.

DeMatha Catholic standout Greg Penn III tweeted that he is “Committed. 100%” on Sunday afternoon. The Hyattsville, Maryland native is listed at 6-1, 225 pounds and rated 4-stars, the No. 9 inside linebacker, No. 10 Maryland product and No. 183 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. Penn chose LSU over 27 other scholarship offers, including Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

The addition of Penn bumps LSU’s 2021 class up in the Composite rankings to No. 5 nationally, overtaking Oregon. The Tigers’ class is ranked No. 2 in the SEC behind only Tennessee.
