Ed Orgeron and his staff are killing it on the recruiting trail.

Following the commitment of 5-star WR Rakim Jarrett, LSU has moved into the No. 1 spot on the 247Sports Composite’s class of 2020 recruiting rankings. Jarrett is the second 5-star recruit to join LSU’s class, ranked just a few spots behind fellow Tigers pledge CB Elias Ricks.

The Bayou Bengals move ahead of Clemson. LSU’s class of 13 commits (including 12 4-star or 5-star) currently has 248.43 points in the ranking system used by 247Sports. Clemson’s class made up of 12 blue-chip commitments (one 5-star, 11 4-star commits) has 245.47 points.

LSU defensive line coach Dennis Johnson and safeties coach Bill Busch are both ranked as top-10 recruiters for 2020 on the Composite (Nos. 5 and 7 respectively). Only three of LSU’s commitments for 2020 so far have come from Louisiana.

The rankings are sure to change between now and December’s Early Signing Period (only three of the top 10 prospects are currently committed), but LSU is certainly happy to be on top instead of playing catch-up this summer. As far as rival classes go, two are in the top five: Alabama sits at No. 3 nationally (15 commits, 245.46 points) while Florida is at No. 5 (10 commits, 185.31 points).
