LSU has named running Josh Williams the offensive captain for the Tigers’ road game this Saturday against Auburn.

Williams joins season-long captains Ali Gaye, B.J. Ojulari and Mike Jones Jr.

Williams, listed a 5-foot-9, 200 pounds, is a former walk-on from Houston, Texas. He was placed on scholarship within a year after strong efforts on special teams and now the redshirt junior has worked his way onto the rotation of running backs.

His story in football and rise within the LSU program was recently written about at NOLA.com.

LSU and Auburn will tangle in the traditional battle of the SEC Tigers on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be on ESPN. Auburn is already 1-0 against Tigers this season after pulling out a 17-14 overtime win over Missouri last Saturday.
