LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels and wideout Malik Nabers are both slated to be top-six selections in April’s NFL Draft.

That’s according to the latest, post-Super Bowl mock draft from CBS Sports. The outlet has Daniels being taken second overall by the Washington Commanders and it has Nabers going sixth overall to the New York Giants.

In both instances, draft experts seem to be split on just when the former Tiger teammates will go but there appears to be a consensus developing that neither will make it past the early stages of the first round. In most mock drafts, Daniels is slated to either the Commanders at No. 2 or the New England Patriots at No. 3.

Here’s what CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson wrote on the Daniels pick:

No player did more for their draft stock in the fall than Jayden Daniels, who went from possible Day 3 pick to first-round prospect. He reminds me of Lamar Jackson, and it’s not crazy to think that, five years from now, we’ll look back and say that Daniels was the best player in this class.

Some think Nabers could be picked ahead of Marvin Harrison Jr. as the top wide receiver taken. After their first-round receiver disappointed a year ago, the Chargers could target another receiver with the fifth pick. Most draft prognosticators have the Giants taking a wideout, so if Nabers is there at No. 6, it seems like that would be a huge home run for New York’s management.

And what Wilson wrote of his Nabers-to-New York projection:

Offensive line could be a consideration here, but the Giants opt for Nabers, a big-play receiver who is a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball.

Wilson’s first-round projections also include wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. being taken with the 26th overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Daniels’ brilliance in 2023 — 3,812 yards and 40 scores through the air — helped Nabers and Thomas assert themselves as LSU’s next first-round receivers. Nabers led all FBS players with 120.7 yards per game (1,569 total on 89 receptions). Thomas led the nation in touchdown receptions with 17.

Week after week, they were on nighttime highlight reels making defenders look silly.

If all three hear their names called in the first round, they’d give LSU its best opening day at the NFL Draft since 2020, when five Tigers were taken in the first round.

Daniels and Nabers going top-six would also be the first time LSU has had multiple players go that high since 2017, when Leonard Fournette went fourth and Jamal Adams went sixth.

LSU would also strengthen its claim to the title of “WRU.” Nabers and Thomas would be the seventh and eighth wide receivers to be drafted in the first round since 2000.
