LSU is taking on Baylor in the Texas Bowl on Tuesday night. The 1st half of this matchup was explosive with 51 total points scored.
The Tigers went into halftime with a 34-17 lead after Zavion Thomas returned a kick 95 yards for a TD late in the 2nd half. The speedy receiver took the kickoff and went almost untouched down the middle of the field on his way to the endzone.
The kick return was Thomas’ 1st of the season and 3rd of his career. While at Mississippi State in 2023, Thomas returned a kick 94 yards to the house against Texas A&M. In 2022, as a freshman at Mississippi State, Thomas returned a punt for a TD.
The score put the Tigers up 34-14 after the extra point was missed. The Bears then drove down and added a FG before the half, making it a 34-17 game.
The 3rd quarter was not nearly as wild as the 1st half. The Bears scored the only points of the quarter after Sawyer Robertson found Ashtyn Hawkins for a 4-yard TD. Heading into the 4th, the Tigers maintained a 34-24 lead.
In the 4th quarter, the Tigers added 7 points on a Josh Williams run and 3 points on a Damian Ramos FG. With 9 minutes to play in the game, the Tigers held a 44-24 lead.
Both of these teams have previously played in 2 Texas Bowls. Additionally, both teams are 1-1 all-time in this game, with the Tigers last playing in it in 2022 and the Bears last appearing in 2018.
