The SEC West Division Champion LSU Tigers received some big news about its defensive roster Friday night.
Starting defensive back and key playmaker Greg Brooks Jr. announced that he would be returning for the 2023 season instead of heading to the NFL Draft.
Brooks shared a social media graphic and explained his decision.
“This year did not end the way we wanted or expected, but it is part of the process of building a foundation,” Brooks wrote on social media. “Normally, this is where you hear the part about moving on to the next chapter, but I believe my story in Baton Rouge is not over. I will continue this Path to Greatness at LSU for one more year. I want to close this chapter the right way alongside my brothers and Tiger Nation.”
Brooks, who started his career at Arkansas and transferred to LSU for the 2022 season, started 12 games for the Tigers, making 61 tackles, 4 passes defended and 1 interception.
Brooks has started 43 games during his college career at Arkansas and LSU, and he’ll be a major staple for LSU’s defense in 2023.

Yeah, that is good news. I'm thinking 4-5 returning starters on defense. The one I don't know about is Baskerville. Does anyone know about him? Bernard-Converse is gone. Ojulari, Gaye, Roy, Ward, and Garner are gone. That's 6 gone. Coming back are Wingo, Perkins, Penn, and Brooks. That's 4 coming back. Baskerville? And on offense, I think the entire starting 11 are coming back, which is amazing.
Forgot about Foucha. I don't know about him, either.
Baskerville is going to NFL Draft.
J. Roy, take note… we’d love to have you back!?! ?
J. Roy declared for NFL. Youth coming in and the TP we should be good.
