Malik Nabers was the expected Biletnikoff Award winner after leading the nation in receiving yards. He was also tied for second in receiving touchdowns, trailing only LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr.

Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., however, ended up edging Nabers by 1 vote to win the award for nation’s top receiver. Nabers bested Harrison by 19 more catches (86 to 67) and 335 more yards (1,546 to 1,211) while both stars caught 14 touchdowns. The LSU wideout leads the nation in plays of 10-plus yards (59), 20-plus yards (34) and 30-plus yards (17).

Nabers took to social media to share his reaction. Plenty of fans and media members were similarly upset.

“REMEMBER THAT!! So disrespectful,” Nabers posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Nabers is already LSU’s all-time leader in receptions, with 186 in his 3-year career. He’s chasing Josh Reed for another LSU record, the career receiving yardage mark.

While it’s trendy for a player like Nabers to opt-out of a non-Playoff bowl game, the LSU wideout has indicated he will play in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Nabers needs just 22 more receiving yards to overtake Reed for the program’s receiving yardage record. Nabers and Reed are the only receivers in LSU history to record multiple 1,000-yard seasons.

LSU faces Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Florida. The game is set for noon ET on New Year’s Day, airing on ESPN2.
