It’s a good thing LSU signed an outstanding class of defensive backs in the 2019 recruiting cycle because it appears the Tigers are set to lose yet another defensive back.

On Monday, junior defensive back Mannie Netherly announced he has entered the transfer portal. Not only is the timing of this news interesting, but it’s odd that the defensive back announced it publicly by himself. That’s something LSU defensive backs apparently enjoy doing, as Kelvin Joseph did something similar this offseason.

The Texas native appeared in 11 games for the Tiger last season but never started for Ed Orgeron’s team. He made only three tackles during his two seasons in Baton Rouge.

Netherly was a four-star recruit in the 2017 recruiting cycle.
