Joe Burrow is getting loads of attention this week following a big win at Texas as the LSU quarterback continued to impress in the Tigers’ new-look offense. Now Matt Leinart has joined the hype train.

The Fox Sports analyst noted that Burrow threw for 471 yards and 4 touchdowns on the road, and added that he thinks LSU is “for real.”

“It was remarkable,” Leinart said. “When we talk about Heisman moments in games and talk about Joe Burrow, how about going to Texas in September, we don’t usually have these types of games early.”

Leinart highlighted a third and 17 play with about 4 minutes to go when Burrow made a strike on a play that resulted in a TD, and is the type that “lasts throughout the season,” he said.

As he explained his top 5 contenders, Leinart said Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts has more touchdowns than incomplete passes, while Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor is the best running back in America, according to Leinart. The former Southern Cal QB also said Hurts is on a mission to play Alabama in the College Football Playoff.

In terms of Alabama QB Tagovailoa, Leinart wondered if teammate WR Jerry Jeudy would steal votes from his quarterback.

Leinart’s top 5 Heisman Trophy candidates:

5. Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
4. Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin
3. Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
2. Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
1. Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
