The prospect of Ohio’s own Joe Burrow returning to his home state has made for one of the more fun storylines ahead of the upcoming NFL Draft. One analyst, however, isn’t projecting the Heisman-winner to be a Cincinnati Bengal.

NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein released his “mock draft 2.0” on Friday. Burrow is projected to be selected No. 1 overall but by the Miami Dolphins. Why would the Bengals pass on Burrow? Zierlein says to load up on other draft picks:

If there is any sense in Cincinnati that Burrow doesn’t want to be a Bengal long-term, then the team should listen to offers. An NFL executive I consulted with felt that including all three of Miami’s first-round picks in this deal would be too much, so I’m sending Cincy Pick Nos. 5 and 18, as well as second-round selections.

As for Cincinnati, Zierlein has the Bengals getting former Oregon QB Justin Herbert at No. 5 and using the No. 18 pick on former Oklahoma LB Kenneth Murray. The mock, which only covers the first round, does not provide the necessary material to come to a conclusion on the hypothetical trade since Zierlein has Cincinnati receiving “second-round selections.”

Zierlein isn’t alone in continuing to link Burrow and the Dolphins. Armando Salguero, a columnist for the Miami Herald, recently noted:

The Dolphins want to trade up to grab Joe Burrow with the first overall selection, if possible. They will make that attempt.

Regardless of what Burrow or the Bengals say about the matter, we can expect this to be a storyline right up until the pick is in.
