A few months ago, LSU signed John Emery Jr., a 5-star recruit out of Destrehan, Louisiana, rated the No. 2 running back, No. 2 Louisiana product and No. 13 overall prospect in the class of 2019 on the 247Sports Composite. Some coaching staffs would make running back less of a priority the next recruiting cycle, but that’s not the case for Ed Orgeron and the Tigers.

Houston RB Zach Evans, rated 5-stars, the No. 1 running back, No. 1 Texas product and No. 6 prospect overall nationally in the 2020 class, announced Friday night via Twitter that he is heading to Baton Rouge on Saturday. It’s only a visit, but LSU is clearly working hard to add a 5-star running back to what is already a loaded 2020 class (No. 2 in the SEC, No. 3 nationally). Last weekend, LSU hosted 5-star RB Kendall Milton.

Right now, both backs appear to be considering LSU along with Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. (Evans is also showing interest in Oklahoma.) With college football recruiting the way it is, LSU could easily miss out on both Milton and Evans. But it’s impressive just to get them on campus in back-to-back weeks, especially when another 5-star running back (Emery) will be suiting up in the next few months.
