Former LSU LB Deion Jones is getting handsomely rewarded for a strong start to his NFL career. The Atlanta Falcons have extended Jones’ contract, inking him to a four-year, $57 million contract extension.
The deal includes an $11 million signing bonus and $25.8 million fully guaranteed. Jones has a $7 million option bonus for 2020, and is guaranteed $8.2 million in 2021, per Pro Football Talk.
A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Jones has played in 37 games for the Falcons, recording 297 total tackles, including 15 for loss and 2 sacks. Jones has also snagged 8 interceptions, including 3 pick-sixes, and recorded a pair of forced fumbles.
The heated Atlanta-New Orleans NFL rivalry makes it complicated for Tigers-Saints fans when a former LSU player winds up with the Falcons, but LSU fans should still be glad for Jones, who comes from a working-class household.
